Up Close & Personal with Author – Talia Jager – Secret Bloodline

About the book:

What sixteen-year-old Kairi doesn’t know is that vampires do exist and she’s one of them. She was left in foster care when she was very little and grew up away from her world. Then she began to change. Feeling out of place and confused, she ran away from her foster home. A coven takes her under their wings and trains her. When she is told her parents didn’t just abandon her, but died protecting her, she sets off on a mission to find their killer.

And then she meets Aiden…a vampire hunter.

about the Author:

Where were you born and where do you call home?
I was born in NY, but have called TX home for the past 4 years.

What is the name of your most recent book and if you had to sum it up in 30 or less words, what would you say?
Secret Bloodline is a young adult paranormal. I consider it a teen drama with a paranormal aspect.

Do you have plans for a new book?   Is this book part of a series?
Yes. I'm editing an edgy YA drama titled, Lost and Found and I'm writing Roots and Wings, the next book in The Gifted Teens Series.

What or who inspired you to write?  And how long have you been writing?
I began writing in elementary school. I don't remember what inspired me to write. Now, years later, my husband, children, and friends are my inspiration.

Would you like to giveaway a copy of your book on this blog?
Sure!

How did you come up with the title and cover design?
I actually asked for help on my Facebook author page and a fan, Andrea K., helped me come up with the title. The cover design was handled by Glendon at StreetlightGraphics.com. He has done all my covers and I love his work. Together we brainstormed and created the cover.

Have you based any of your characters on someone you know, or real events in your own life?
Not so much the characters, maybe a personality trait here and there. I've definitely put some events that have happened to me in my books.

Is there an Author that you would really like to meet?
Julia Crane and Heather Marie Adkins. They are two new authors I'd like to get together with.

Do you prefer ebooks, paperbacks or hardcover?
I have really enjoyed my Kindle. Recently, I have bought more books on it than real paper books.

Where do you prefer to buy your books?
Amazon

Are you a self published (Indie) Author?
Yes. I am really enjoying self-publishing.

What book are you currently reading and in what format (ebook/paperback/hardcover)?
Conflicted (Book 2 of Keegan's Chronicles) by Julia Crane and Abigail by Heather Marie Adkins. Both in ebook format.

Are there any new Authors that have grasped your interest and why?
Julia Crane because I love the worlds she creates and Heather Marie Adkins because her descriptions are amazing.

Do you have a book trailer?
Not for Secret Bloodline. I do have one for my last book, The Ultimate Sacrifice.

What are your thoughts on book trailers?
I think they are a really neat idea.

Do you have any advice for other writers?
I tell people three things. Write as much as you can, as often as you can. Write for yourself, not anybody else. Believe in yourself and never give up.

What is the best advice that you have ever been given when it comes to writing?
Don't stop!

Do you write under a pen name?
No.

Do you ever write in your PJ’s?
Yes. One of the great things about being a writer is that I can write in my Pj's or while I'm eating. I can take breaks whenever I want and I don't have any deadlines other than my own.
