Sharon's Thoughts

As a HUGE lover of Patti Robert's work I was thrilled when she announced she was releasing her "TV series" length books - The Witchwood Estate Series.

As anybody who regularly reads my reviews knows, I am a lover of all things paranormal; vampires, shifters, angels, you name it' I've probably read it. But I must admit I haven't read a lot paranormal containing witches, so was really quite excited when Patti said this was the basis of her new series. Now before you start thinking OK a story about witches; this is no 'Charmed' or 'Merlin'.

The first book in the series; Going Home, introduces us to our heroine Alexandria, as she is getting ready to go home to Witchwood Estate to claim her inheritance.  We meet Olly and Martha Barnaby her loving but rather curious guardians, and then go with Alexandria on the first leg of her journey home.

What makes Patti's work so easy to read is that her stories have an emotion, spirit, and energy that draws you into the story and you are propelled along with them.

With each story only the length of a standard TV mini-series or show, it is quite easy to read in one sitting, and then, like any other favourite TV show, you have to wait with baited breath till the next exciting episode.

This story pulls you in and makes you smile when the character does; feel anxious about impending danger, and cringe at the evil the dark characters manifest. Rooting for our Alexandria from the first page. This promises to be a great series. I just love Patti's work. Without trying you are transported and become an invisible observer right in the story. She also makes you feel like you want to be close to her main characters. I will devour this series. Perfect-length installments for the read-a-holic. I will be recommending this series to everyone who has hope, who is adventurous, and has an open mind to fantasy. Patti Roberts does it again!

First off for those of you who are already Patti Roberts fans of her Paradox series, you will know she is a spectacularly imaginative and beautiful author. Where some folks books read like solid dependable working boots, hers read like the gentle and delicate lace adorning your grandmothers couches. They are full of spirit and grace. Each of these types of styles are fine, and I enjoy both. What sets Patti's into this category is her grace and energy. She truly is a joy to read, and to know. I was thrilled to see her releasing something that I adore, short stories, and to make it better, they were to be part of a whole series.

This book really left me wanting more. I could not believe how it grabbed me from the start. Alexandria had my attention and I wanted to know more about her. My interest was peeked when she got on the bus. I was on edge with the bus ride never knowing what was going to happen next. I loved the storyline and when the book ended, I tried to turn the page just to see if it was more. I can't wait for the next book to come out. This is a goodread!

This short section is a very tantalising look into what promises to be a wonderful book. It has the smoothly competent writing that we've come to expect from Ms Roberts, but the tone of this book is lighter and more humourous than that of the Paradox series. I am very much looking forward to reading the whole book.

"HEY, WHO'S THE NEW GIRL?"

Hello Everyone, my name is Leslie, and this is my first post.

I thought I would start out by introducing myself and telling you why I am here.  Yes … you guessed it!  I am a baby author (working on my own book) with big dreams and trying to learn the “in’s and out’s” of the business.  Blogging, posting, writing, reviewing (I get that) and publishing.  I have only just learned how to publish a few of the things I’ve written onto www.wattpad.com .

So who am I besides  someone full of admiration for the Indie author and grateful for the company of the group of talented individuals I have come into contact with in this community?

Well, I am a mother and stepmother of three.  I have been married 13 years to a great guy.  I have 6 grandchildren.  Yet I am still very young at heart!  My career was in capital case appellate prosecution.  Fancy- Schmansy for a Government Legal Assistant.  I researched, typed, proofread and edited legal briefs in cases that border on the paranormal!  However, I gave that up when circumstances in my life changed and I had to help raise grandchildren.  When the kiddies were old enough, I needed to work (a housewife I am not).  So … I studied and got a degree from GIA in jewelry, and worked for a jewelry repair shop.  A hobby job, if you will.

But I always wanted to write.

I always wanted to be involved in the writing community.

“Why?” you ask?  Because I had authors in the family I was proud of and wanted to follow in their footsteps.  For those that are curious, I am the niece of David and Leigh Eddings, of “The Belgariad” series; “The Mallorean” series; “The Elenium” series; and the list goes on and on.  They wrote in the Sci-Fi/Fantasy genre.  They are both gone now, but their books are still popular.  You can still find them on Amazon HERE and in the bookstores, as well.  I still remember getting advanced copies to read for them, signed, and thinking…’THIS is what I want to do.  I want to fill my life with magic and adventure and share it with everyone.’

So I hope you will all enjoy my reviews and my posts and will be patient with the newbie while she learns.  I want to talk about the books I read and the television series’ I love and get your feedback also!

Last but certainly not least, I want to thank Patti Roberts for believing in me and encouraging me! She is truly brilliant.  I adore everything about her, from her personality and compassion to her phenomenal writing!

SEE YOU SOON !!

And if it’s not soon enough…you can follow me HERE.

I look forward to hearing from all you authors out there and, If you have enjoyed reading this post, please take a moment to share it with your friends on Facebook, twitter or re post! Comments welcomed in the box below.

Alexandria found an Invisibility spell that night be she went to bed Martha helped her with the spell. The next day at school the girls at the lunch table didn't pay any attention to Alexandria. She never made friends growing up. Now Alexandria is all grown up and is leaving to go back to her home town, in Witchwood Estate. On the Way she meets a young man, name Andrew, Alexandria doesn't have to hide who she is from him because she knows what he is, and soon he finds out about her, and they become friends. Andrew is a ghost, not really a ghost, he is what some people might say in-between. Alexandria finds out more about Andrew and Andrew finds more about Alexandra. She offer Andrew if he want to come with her to Witchwood Estate. Doing the ride on the bus an old woman is on the bus and only Andrew notice's that she is different, but he doesn't say anything. Author Interview – (Patricia Puddle - Ominous Love (Book 1 ) in the Ominous Series

Where were you born and where do you call home?

I was born in England and came to Australia with my family when I was twelve. When I was fifteen, I met a seventeen-year-old Scottish lad on Bondi Beach. We fell in love and were married less than two years later. After our children were born we decided to get naturalized, so we’re paper Aussies and we call Australia home.

What is the name of your most recent book and if you had to sum it up in 30 or less words, what would you say?

Ominous Love is my first (New Adult) Paranormal Romance.

Eloise is unaware that two angels have fallen in love with her, and as they battle from Heaven to earth to win her heart, she’s busy fighting with her boyfriend. Then she meets a gorgeous stranger on the beach and fall madly in love with him. Now someone is stalking her and she wonders if she’s made a bad mistake.

If you gave one of your characters an opportunity to speak for themselves, what would they say?

Eloise would say: I will do anything to be with my true love, my angel, and if it’s not possible on earth, I’ll follow him to heaven, or even to hell.

One angel would say: Although I’m Eloise’s guardian angel, I yearn to be with her, as a man, and a lover, and though I managed to resist the temptation before, things happened that were out of my control. I lost my wings for loving her, but I’m happy to be with her as a human on earth. But If it means saving her life, and her soul, I’ll sacrifice my human body and beg to be returned to Heaven. I’ll do anything to protect her from evil, even if it means going to Hell myself.

The other angel would say: Eloise is the only girl I’ll ever love, and I’ll do anything to have her as my bride, anything. And if she won’t come willingly, I’ll take her far away and lock her up until she realizes that I’m the only man for her. I’ll teach her to love me, and I won’t stop until she bares my child. Then she’ll be mine for all of eternity.

Do you have plans for a new book? Is this book part of a series?

Yes! Ominous Love is the first book in the series. I’m writing book 2 at the moment. Ominous Angel should be released soon, hopefully before April. Then book three will be next.

Is there an Author that you would really like to meet?

I would’ve loved to have net Bryce Courtenay. I have all his books and he’s an inspiration to me, and one of my favorite authors, but sadly, it’s too late to meet him now. RIP Bryce Courteney.

Do you prefer ebooks, paperbacks or hardcover?

eBooks, definitely. I can read any book of my choice anytime.

Where do you prefer to buy your books?

Amazon and Smashwords.

Are you a self published (Indie) Author?

Yes, and very proud of it, no regrets.

What book would you like to read again?

Gone With The Wind.

Is there a particular movie that you preferred over the book version?

Gone With The Wind.

What book are you currently reading and in what format (ebook/paperback/hardcover)?

I’m reading seven eBooks books at the moment. I have so many on my list to read. Here they are the ones at the top of the list, then I’ll be reading another one of Patti Roberts books.

Here are the seven:
Of Love and Deception by Melisa Hamling.
A Heart’s Endeavor by Mary Wehr.
Hot and Spicy (De La Cruz Saga) by P. T Macias.
Forbidden Touch by K. S Haigwood
Taken Before Her Very Eyes by Wade Foubert
The devil’s Eyes by Jennifer Lauren
Jade and the Deva – Book One: Hidden Wings by Jade Fishburn and Keith Tutor

Are there any Authors that have grasped your interest recently and why?

Melisa Hamling. I think she’s a brave author to have written her book, Twenty Weeks. I couldn’t put it down once I stared it. It’s a love story and about a teenage girl that gets pregnant and has decisions to make.

Who designed the cover of your book?
Patti Roberts! I love her book covers!
Do you buy a book by the cover?

Usually, that’s was attracts me the most, but not always. Sometimes I like the title.

Do you have a book trailer?

Not yet. I made all the book trailers for my children’s books, but I wanted to get book two in my Ominous Series finished first. I’m running out of time.

What are your thoughts on book trailers?

I love book trailers. It gives the readers an idea of the characters before they buy a book.

What date were you born?

Seventh of April.
Do you have a nickname?

Betrisha cause I’m being Trisha.
Did you have a favorite toy as a child?

Oh, yeah. It was a doll that my father bought for me. I was thrilled with it and believed it was a real person. Six months later, I caught measles and had to go into hospital because I was so ill. I took my doll with me, but many weeks later when I was about to come home, the nurses took my doll off me. They wouldn’t give her back and said she had germs. I was so upset I cried for a week. My dad bought me two replacement dolls, but they weren’t the same. I wanted my Jill back and I worried that those nurses would hurt her and that she’d be cold and hungry. Hey, don’t laugh. I was only six.

An early childhood memory -
Getting up to mischief with my best friend. Everything she dared me to do, I did it. These memories inspired me to write my Rascals Series: Star-Crossed Rascals & Rascals Sing at The Opera House. In these two books, the stories are mainly true, but the endings have been changed into happy ones, but in my real life, I was banned from playing with my best friend, ever again. If anyone is interested enough to know why, they can find out by reading Star-Crossed Rascals. Pollyweena is me as a child, so I guess my rascals stories are like a childhood biography. Grins. And yes, I did have to mime in the school Singing Festival because my voice was so bad. That inspired Rascals Sing at The Opera House.

Which one of your books do you like the best?

Um, I like them all, but my first book, Star-Crossed Rascals is an achievement because I left school at the age of fourteen to look after my younger siblings when my mother was ill for a while. I never went back and I still didn’t know how to write properly. I had also spent time in hospitals for different childhood illnesses and got behind with my lessons. I started learning how to write properly six years ago. Then I wrote and self published Star-Crossed Rascals, but the most amazing thing was when a lady gave me a five star review because her autistic son loved is so much and he begged her to keep reading it. She told me he learned how to read so he could read it himself. His name is Zac and now has reads all my children’s books. That melted my heart and I’m so thankful to Zac.

Do you ever write in your PJ’s?

All the time. It’s so comfortable.
What are your pet peeves?

Not being able to stay awake all night anymore to write. I get tired at about 2.00am now.

Any pets that you would like to tell us about, share a pic?

My little guinea pigs. They have all gone over the rainbow bridge now, but I so adored them little men. They were little characters and they were my forever babies. Here is a link to one of my websites to see them: http://childrens-books-author-p-puddle.com/pages/guinea-pigs.php

White wine or red?

White.

Coffee or tea?

Both

So you like to cook?  Do you have a favorite food?

I do love to cook stir-fries and curries, but one of my favorite foods is bread. I love bread and jam or muesli toast. My bread has to be brown, wholemeal or rye.

Vanilla or chocolate ice-cream?

Vanilla.

What do you normally eat for breakfast, of do you skip it and get straight to work?

I always have breakfast. It’s either Burgen Muesli Toast or a healthy cereal with skim milk.

What are 4 things you never leave home without (apart from keys, money and phone)?

My iPad! Kindle, makeup, perfume, oh and earphones.

Sleep in or get up early?

It varies. Depending if I’ve stayed up all night writing and marketing, or chatting on FaceBook.

Laptop or desktop for writing?
Laptop.

Your favorite gadget -

My iPad of course. My grand kids love it too.

Where and when do you prefer to do your writing?

In my home office.

Your thoughts on receiving book reviews - the good and the bad -

It’s great to get reviews, good and bad, though I prefer good. Grins.

Where is one place in the world that you would really love to visit someday?

America.

List 3 books you just recently read and would recommend?

Twenty Weeks by Melisa Hamling
The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden by Jessica Sorensen.
Hapily Ever After (The sequel to Sleeping Handsome) by Jean Haus

List 4 of your favorite movies?

Gone With The Wind.
Hand in Hand.
The African Queen
Muriel’s Wedding

An actor or a book character you really like.

Vivien Leigh from Gone With The Wind. (And Clark Gabel as Rhett)

What is a movie or TV show that you watched just recently and really enjoyed?
Dexter.

If your book was made into a TV series or Movie, what actors would you like to see playing your characters?  Feel free to add pics.

I can’t tell you the angels’ names because I’d give the plot away, but to play the good angel in Ominous Love, I think Harry Styles from One Direction would be perfect. He’s the same age and has a sweet nature, and he sometimes dresses like him. Chuckle. (You’ll have to check his pictures out to see why.  (One Direction members all have angel faces, so I guess any one of them could play the that part)
Johnny Ruffo would be great as Tom, the cheeky boyfriend, and the bad angel, well there are two young guys in mind, but the bad angel is a demon, and after what he does to Eloise in this story, I don’t think they’d want to play him. The bad angel is mysterious, good-looking with dark brooding eyes and black hair,. All Eloise’s friends think he’s hot, but he’s only interested in the forbidden. Eloise.
Eloise could be played by Georgie Henley.

Where can your readers stalk you?
