Editorial Reviews
Review

“Bristling with unrelenting suspense, Breaking Creed by Alex Kava hurls retired Marine Ryder Creed on a harrowing search for smugglers who’ve been using children as drug mules.  Creed is special, a memorable character  – he trains homeless dogs to sniff out contraband and hunt criminals.  When he teams up with Kava’s iconic FBI forensics specialist Maggie O’Dell, you’ll discover the most exciting crime-solving duo of the year.”—Gayle Lynds, New York Times best-selling author of The Assassins

“I’m always first in line for the next Maggie O’Dell novel, but Alex Kava’s latest, BREAKING CREED, simply blew me away, mostly with the introduction of a character who can finally and truly stand toe-to-toe with O’Dell. Ryder Creed—along with his dogs!— is a true inspiration:  tough, smart, dynamic.  The pairing of Creed and O’Dell elevates this thriller to the next level.  It left me both breathless and awed.  For any dog lover, it’s a must-read.  For any lover of nail-biting suspense, it’s a book you’ll not be able to put down. Get it now!”James Rollins, New York Times best-sellingauthor of The Sixth Extinction

“Bestseller Kava introduces Ryder Creed, who has started his own search-dog business after serving in a K9 unit in the Marines, in this superior introduction to a new thriller series. In the Gulf of Mexico, off Pensacola, Fla., Creed and his team inspect a commercial fishing vessel, which the authorities suspect is being used to smuggle drugs. Unexpectedly, one of Creed’s dogs uncovers human cargo hidden in the hold—five filthy children who appear to be Americans. Meanwhile, FBI agent Maggie O’Dell, the star of the author’s other series (Stranded, etc.), tries to identify a floater found in the Potomac with marks of torture. O’Dell and Creed later unite in Alabama to search the property of another murder victim, who may have been tied to stakes in the ground atop a mound of fire ants. Romance fans will enjoy following how the attraction between O’Dell and Creed plays out. Dog lovers will also find a lot to like.”—Publishers  Weekly

Winning Bracket (Campus Cravings) by Annabeth Albert (Gay Romance)

Blurb:
Originally published as part of the Campus Cravings bundle, Winning Bracket is now available on its own with a BRAND NEW bonus epilogue/short story!
A sexy bet on a basketball tournament challenges nerdalicious Edwin and party-boy Ollie to change their relationship status from frenemies to lovers.
Oliver Marshall has been a sexy pain in Edwin Schultz’s side since freshman year. Now seniors and competing dorm resident advisors, the two are in constant strife over noise levels and study hours. However, deep down, Edwin’s been nursing a painful crush on Ollie for years. When Ollie proposes a bet on a basketball tournament, Edwin seizes the chance to put his inconvenient feelings for Ollie behind him once and for all.
Edwin’s not the only one suffering a case of unwanted attraction—Ollie’s been running from his feelings for Edwin for a long time. He doesn’t understand how someone who drives Ollie so crazy with his adherence to rules can be the same guy who makes his pulse pound. In fact, Ollie’s never been so eager to lose a bet in his life.
As the challenge becomes a hot bedroom battle to avoid real emotions, the two “frenemies” must change their definitions of losing to win a shot at lasting love.

Excerpt:
Ollie kept looking at him, dark eyes patient and kind, like he really did care about Edwin and Edwin’s GPA. The dark slashes of his eyebrows were a contrast to his creamy skin and heart-shaped mouth, offsetting his elfin features with a masculine edge that had always intrigued Edwin.
Edwin exhaled a long, you-win sigh. “Maybe I’ll try not to go all RA Buzzkill while the games are on.”
“Awesomesauce! You should come grab some pizza too.” Ollie grinned widely, showcasing a row of perfectly white, straight teeth. Having an orthodontist dad had its perks—high limit credit cards and a gorgeous smile. “And you should do the bracket challenge!”
“For what reason?” Edwin refused to be dazzled by Ollie’s smile. Or charmed by Ollie’s attempts to rearrange the English language. If he wasn’t adding “-ie” sounds to perfectly good nouns, he was coining his own adjectives. Like “awesomesauce.” Ridiculous word.
“For fun.” Ollie snorted like Edwin had asked an absurd question. Like randomly picking game-winners from an array of schools Edwin had never heard of was the best way to spend Sunday. “I’ve got some great prizes lined up.”
“I don’t need a prize.”
“Oh come on. We could bet.” Ollie’s eyes sparkled. “Like if my final-four bracket beats yours, you host the watch party.”
“Dream on.” Edwin tried to ignore the feeling of intrigue curling low in his gut.
“Oh come on, Eddie. Think about what would happen if you won! Isn’t there something you want from me?”
You have no idea. Really, none. Edwin had spent the last three years being very, very careful to hide even a hint of “something” from the too-perceptive Ollie. This year had been the worst. Ever since August…
And okay, he was not going to think about August right then. Not with Ollie sitting on the bed looking all eager. Like he’d enjoy nothing more than making Edwin’s dreams come true, though Edwin knew that was far from the case.
Edwin wasn’t a jock, he wasn’t a party guy, he wasn’t tall, he wasn’t cute—he was nothing like the guys Ollie crushed on. No, Ollie was a lit firecracker, and Edwin knew better than to grab on and hope the bang wouldn’t explode in his face.
“I don’t know anything about the teams—no point in doing random guesses.”
“No point? The whole point of the tournament is random guesses! Grady won our floor’s pool last year by picking all dog mascots to advance and all cat mascots to lose. I kept track of the teams the whole season, and I came in second. There’s no way to predict which big-time teams are going to choke.”
“Choke?”
Ollie’s hands grabbed at his own throat, his fingers curving like claws, his eyes crossing, his mouth emitting horribly realistic gagging sounds. Right when Edwin started to get a bit worried, Ollie dropped his hands and grinned. “You know. Choke. Whiff on their chances. Lose even though everyone thought they’d win. But that’s the absolute best part of March Madness—the Cinderella stories. The tiny teams that no one sees coming, and they seize the moment!” Ollie’s hands grabbed at the air in front of him. Like the moment was a real thing to seize. Like randomness and chaos were things people should want.
“Cinderella stories?”
“Because they finally get a chance to go to the big dance.” Ollie’s hands stopped moving. His face sagged. Like Edwin’s lack of basketball IQ was zapping his energy. “Come on. You make some guesses, and if you’re right, I’ll do whatever you want. And if you’re wrong—”
“Hold up. If I filled out a bracket and mine beat yours, you’d do whatever I wanted? Like anything?”
“Sure.” Ollie shrugged, an insolent lift of surprisingly wide shoulders inside a too-big shirt. “I mean not all day. But sure, you want me to be a slave for an hour or something, I can take it.”
Ka-pow. The firecracker exploded, hot want raining down on Edwin, sparking against his skin. Anything. Ollie-as-slave images began to run on repeat in his brain, Ollie getting considerably less clothing with each pass. Edwin could ask for anything, and it would just be a joke to Ollie—a lark to be laughed over later, no more of a big deal than opening up with a can of silly string or shorting his sheets every night for a week.
Oh my God. Would it work? Could he use something like this—a stupid bet on stupid basketball—to exorcise the Ollie demons that had plagued him for years, all without having to admit how he felt about Ollie?
Because while Ollie had been busy with the jock-crush-of-the-month plan, Edwin had been hung up on Ollie. For three and a half years. If a stupid bet could shake Edwin free, then it was worth having to learn something about basketball.
“Okay,” he whispered.
“Yay!” Ollie clambered off the bed, springs squeaking as he hit the floor. “You’ll see. This is going to be a great couple of weeks! So what are we going to play for this week? If my bracket does better by Sunday night, you send an email supporting the next watch party and you show up. And if you win…”
“I want a kiss.” The words escaped Edwin before he could call them back, before he could temper them with logic or suppress them with reality.

Warriors of Matrimony: by Kenneth E. Fultz Jr.

Warriors of Matrimony:

Kalich stood in the middle of a grass field.
“Kalich, watch out!” Annala tackled him to the ground behind a small foot hill.
An explosion rushed forward, smacking up against the hill.
Annala leaned her back up against the rock wall as she looked out at the night battlefield. “That was close.” Annala looked over at Kalich who got up on all fours. “What were you thinking?”
Kalich crawled up beside her, placing his back against the wall. He looked over at her. “I’m not exactly used to this.” Kalich was a handsome, lean, eighteen- year-old merchant with blood-red hair that draped down around his head with green eyes, being from Camgon.
“Honestly, I don’t know why I took this bodyguard job,” Annala said. Annala was a cute eighteen-year-old female warrior with long green hair done up in a ponytail and purple eyes, who originated from Saron.
Kalich smiled, embarrassed as he shut his eyes. “Sorry, Miss Annala.”
“Whatever.” Annala turned to look out on the battlefield. Her eyes narrowed.
Lines curved and shaped around her body. The lines connected, creating a light suit of armor along with a spear in her hand. She looked back at Kalich.

Kenneth Fultz does a superb job of developing his characters with different plots, twists, and betrayals while Annala and Kalich are determined to rescue Calidora. The Soren army is being harassed by the red sharks, an underground group of pirates that gets pulled into the plot. The fight and combat scenes are well choreographed with weapons and magical powers on both sides of the conflict. In the heart of it all is the quest of a family to overcome all obstacles in their path to remain together. The Warriors of Matrimony is a gripping adventure that reels you in and doesn't let go.

Warriors of Matrimony is a truly thrilling young adult story with an exciting setting and memorable characters. Kenneth E. Fultz Jr brought the story to life and allowed me to vividly picture the characters and the setting. From the very first chapter, the description of Annala, her weapons and her fighting skills gave me a true picture of what the story was about and I was immediately hooked by her character and the whole story. I could easily imagine the contrast between the two countries; one ruled by men and the other by women, both with military powers so different and yet each with skills so powerful. The description of the fighting scenes was something to look forward to throughout the story and each scene added more reading pleasure.

Destruction of Sweet Creation: by Kenneth E. Fultz Jr.

Destruction of Sweet Creation:

Employees ran from the power plant with high-tech security guards leading the way.

The wind blew a large blue jacket with a green trim to the side on the slim body it clung to. The jacket was worn by Hiro Inoue, a handsome, eighteen-year-old loner who wasn’t known for spilling his secrets. His blue hair draped down in the front and spiked in the back. He stood atop a large oil container, staring down at the buildings and pumping systems below him.

Hiro grabbed hold of the goggles on top of his head. A smile appeared on his face. He pulled down his goggles over his bluish--green eyes. The area became a shade darker with all objects being scanned and processed into data by the goggles.

A white ape, twice the size of a man, with purple swirl designs embedded in its fur and four arms climbed up the piping below.

“Target found.” Hiro jumped off of the container.
“Don’t be reckless,” Director Oyaji spoke through the young agent’s headset.

Review

"I absolutely love Destruction of Sweet Creation by Kenneth E. Fultz Jr. It is a truly magical tale. It makes you realize that maybe teens are as old as they think they are. Being a teen myself, it was a very enlightening story. Who would have thought that a story like this could make a teen realize that maybe we are immature punks who need to remember that we are still just kids who don't know everything. I thank the author for sharing this amazing story. Maybe one day it will become the anime movie it was meant to be. If it does become one, I would gladly pay to see it."-Savannah Edelen (Teen Reviewer) for Readers' Favorite

"Kenneth E. Fultz Jr. has created some superb characters, and I especially loved the growth and maturity portrayed in the central characters as we witness their transformation from teenagers to young adults. This story contains elements of anime, fantasy, romance, action, and adventure. Kenneth E. Fultz Jr. maintains a conversational narrative throughout the book which lends a casual, light feel to it. This is definitely one of those feel-good, thoroughly enjoyable books for any age group that one can pick up and read any time and I certainly hope to see a graphic novel version of it."-Gisela Dixon for Readers' Favorite

Virtual Book Tour - The Conversation: Your Guide to Transcendence by Jeff Cannon

The Conversation: Your Guide to Transcendence by Jeff Cannon
Pages: 256
Genre: Body Mind Spirit, New Age
Publisher: Walton Books

Book Description:
The Conversation is less a dialogue as it is a transference. It answers so many of the questions anyone seeking has asked about life, death and the human experience.

About the Author:
Jeff Cannon is a Modern American Monk. He is the author of numerous books on meditation, spirituality and wellness. He is a member of NYU Medical Center's Patient Advisory Council as well as a contributor to Huffington Post, MindBodyGreen and countless other websites.
Jeff completed his third book while recovering from his 8th brain surgery. Collectively his surgeries removed more than 20 brain tumors in as many years. His first surgery, in 1992, used a hand-drill. His most devastating surgery removed six brain tumors in 2009. His latest surgery lasted 14 hours, after which he could not see, speak or walk.
Jeff has watched his brain reboot itself again and again, giving Jeff a first-hand view into the evolution of neuroscience. It also stirred him to dedicate his life to develop Modern Meditation by integrating Western Science and Eastern Philosophy in a way that makes sense for the modern world.

Book review:

A trip to a friend's home off the coast of Greece turns into much more than a vacation in this book. It helps create a life-changing awareness and transformation, and author Jeff Cannon brings the reader along on his journey. After a pleasant evening with friends, he turns in for the night and begins what will be a series of lucid dreams that introduce a masculine presence known only as Energy. Over the next several nights, Energy and the author have "conversations" that are really more thought-transferences. They discuss eye-opening philosophies about topics such as anger, fear, free will, karma and most importantly, LOVE.
Skeptics or the more die-hard realists may have some trouble with the book's language at times, since it may read like a riddle. But these passages are just a small portion of the book. For those willing to take a leap of faith and just let the words wash over them, life lessons will emerge. The author's language is beautiful and touching. Not everything will resonate with everyone, but it's difficult to believe that anyone could read through the whole book and not find some jaw-dropping inspiration that hits home.
The author learns that "your life is temporary. Your existence is not." He comes to understand that we create our own universe by how we respond to the events in our lives. For some readers, the book will be a deeply metaphysical and spiritual experience. For others, it will be thought-provoking, But either way, the book holds simple yet profound potential for everyone to respond on a deeply personal level.

When Love Feels Like A Pocket Full Of Snails! by Georgina Ramsey - 99c - this book is a gem!

When Love Feels Like A Pocket Full Of Snails!

For under a $1, this book is not only an absolute bargain, it is also a downright gem of a story!

Book Description from Amazon:

Bella MacDonald is a wannabe hairdresser to the stars. She has her head in the clouds and a fistful of notes and, after feeling abandoned by everyone she loves, she decides that it’s now or never. Bella takes the plunge and jets off (well, chugs off) to a life in France, but mishaps ensue, as she is faced with a sexy farmer and his animals. Will she ever find true love and happiness? Will she return to England and Franco’s salon? And, will Mrs Humphries remember to take her glaucoma medication?

What inspired you to start writing, and when?
I remember continuously writing stories when I was a small child – in fact, I was probably a little obsessive - and I couldn’t go to sleep without reading a book, which I’d stuff under my pillow for safekeeping, but I always thought that writing could only be a hobby and that I had to earn money through a ‘serious career.’ In the past, I’ve had articles published in newspapers, online, etc. but three or four years ago I became aware of the indie book market and began looking into publishing that way. At this point, my husband had no idea when he went to sleep on a night, I stayed up writing – he thought I was gossiping on social media… the cheek of it! I spent about three months planning the idea for a novel, and then a further six months drafting and re-drafting it - that turned into ‘Love, Life & Cream Cakes!’

How many books have you written?  If more than one, are any a series…or trilogy?
I have four books published and available to download through Amazon at the moment. They are not part of a series, although one character does crop up in more than one. However, I’m working on a new novel at the moment, called ‘Rose Blood,’ and I’m hoping that this will be part of a YA trilogy.

Tell us a little about your book. ‘When Love Feels Like A Pocket Full Of Snails’ is a romantic comedy set in France. I have close connections with France and love the way of life over there. We were on holiday a couple of years ago and I took a photo of my niece, which then triggered off the idea for the book. It’s meant to be a light-hearted read that you can enjoy with a cuppa and a biscuit… or in my case, a packet!

Do you have plans for a new book? I do. As mentioned, I’m currently working on Rose Blood and this is a departure from the genre that I usually write it, but I’m enjoying the challenge.

Is there an Author that you would really like to meet? Kerry Fisher. She’s the author of ‘The School Gate Survival Guide’ and I love her sense of humour and style of writing – it doesn’t hurt my brain!

Do you plot or write by the seat of your pants? I would say that I’m probably a loose planner. I like to jot down an idea and then make notes as I go along, outlining each chapter, but the notes I produce for my stories could probably fit onto a single sheet of A4.

Did you have an editor edit your books? Rose Blood, due out 2015, is being professionally edited at the moment, which is why I am super excited about this project.

Do you prefer ebooks, paperbacks or hardcover? Paperbacks for their feel and smell, but ebooks for convenience.

Are you a self- published (Indie) Author? Yes, and I love the feeling of control that comes with it. I am, without doubt, a control freak and love to work at my own pace, which indie allows.

What books would you like to read again? All of Catherine Cookson’s. My mum turned me into a fan of Catherine Cookson when I was about eight, and the more I think about it, the more I think she is to blame for my obsession with writing and books.

What book are you currently reading and in what format (ebook/paperback/hardcover)? ‘The Key to Erebus (Les Corbeaux: The French Vampire Legend)’ by Emma V Leech and Roisin O’Connor. I’m only three chapters in, but it’s a pretty pleasant read so far - nice images, easy language, etc.

Who designed the cover of your book?
I design all of my own book covers. I either take the photographs for them myself, or (in the case of ‘Love, Life & Cream Cakes!’) draw the images I need. Again, I like to be in control of this element, but also I love learning new skills and crawling out of my comfort zone.

Do you find yourself intrigued by the cover of a book enough to buy it?
Yes, covers are my weakness. I regularly buy books based upon whether the cover grabs my attention because I am a highly visual person.

Do you have any advice for other writers starting out?
Don’t rush in. It’s so easy to publish nowadays, but because of this it’s possible to find yourself a little trigger happy to click ‘publish’ when your book may not actually be ready for market. I think many indie authors (me, for sure) have fallen for this temptation.

Do you ever write in your PJ’s? Always!

What are your pet peeves? Wet bread!

Pick one - Wine, Chocolate or shoes? Chocolate – no contest!

Cats or dogs? No! Too hard. I have both and love them all equally. I’m probably more in tune with cats, if I’m being totally honest, but that doesn’t stop me adoring dogs.

What is your favorite food and beverage? Mint choc chip ice-cream… I can eat it by the truckload.

How many hours per day do you try to devote to research and writing? Probably 4 hours when working alongside the day job, but that goes up to 10 hours on weekends and during holidays.

Sleep in or get up early? Sleep in.

Laptop or desktop for writing? Laptop.

Where and when do you prefer to do your writing? In the home office at night.

List 3 of your favorite movies? Don’t judge me! ‘National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation,’ ‘Highlander’ and ‘Carry on Camping.’

Seven disturbing little tales of terror by Kenya Moss-Dyme

Daymares is a 230 page collection of seven disturbing little tales of terror by Kenya Moss-Dyme. Here is an excerpt from Baby Mine, in which a woman faces the ultimate ‘morning-after’ following a lust-filled night with a brutish former lover.

Book Excerpt

In the room alone, she lay back on the exam table and pulled apart the white gown. She felt along the circumference of her belly and stroked the smooth skin of the growth that was now the size of a small watermelon. She had managed to hide it well beneath her work clothing, committing to wearing mostly oversize smocks and tunics paired with blazers that provided camouflage. But it was becoming increasingly difficult to keep her slacks above her hips since she could no longer fasten or zip them, having instead to use a belt to hold keep them from falling down and tripping her.

She pressed her fingers into the mound, gently at first, and then because she didn’t feel anything, she used even more pressure; she moved the position of her hands and pressed again, just past the point of pain, and she suddenly felt something shift inside. She gasped and cried out, jerking her hands up in the air away from her own body. She held as still as she could, not even breathing, and she felt it again. It moved. It scurried. From one side of her belly to the other.

She slowly returned her hands to her belly and cupped both sides, and after a few seconds, she felt the pressure of a poke from the inside, pushing against the surface of her skin as if it were trying to match her hands, to touch her, to join hands with her through her body. She recoiled in horror as she felt a tiny lump rise in her belly and move beneath her hand, searching and prodding, exploring.

She looked down and saw something poking up, like a thumb poking from the inside; she felt it dragging around on the interior of her body, almost as if it were drawing letters on a chalkboard, signaling her, trying to communicate with her. Panicked, she took her hand and slapped the lump hard, once, twice, until it disappeared beneath her skin, then began poking on the opposite side of her stomach. She reached over and used her fists to punch that lump down as hard as she could, gasping at the impact of being punched in the stomach, even if it were by her own fists.

She heard what sounded like a muffled screech of a cat and the baby inside punched back with the force of an angry punch by a small child - only it really hurt coming from the inside of where her organs resided!
She held her breath, afraid to move for fear of alerting the doctor and nurse and they would think she was a lunatic and have her put on a 72 hour hold.

Jessica swallowed hard as she realized that the doctors were right about one thing. There was something inside of her. It was alive. And she had made it angry.

Crescent City, by Chariss K Walker

Alec Winters quietly moves through the streets of New Orleans, the Crescent City, looking for predators—those who destroy and prey on innocence. Trained in close-hand combat, he uses these skills when necessary to kill the offenders. Sometimes, his military training isn't needed at all. Sometimes, the only thing it takes to end the lives of wicked, evil men is one look at him.

After two suspicious murders in only a short time, the main problem Alec faces in his quest of redemption is a nosy reporter. Vivien Simon came to the metropolitan area to do a series on the effects of Hurricane Katrina—with crime rates on the rise, her interests are drawn to the seedier aspects of the city. She’s hoping to get the story that will make her career. When she discovers that both murder victims were pedophiles, Vivien begins a newspaper and blog campaign that frightens parents and turns the city upside down.

Some say the perpetrator of the murders is an angel while others insist it’s a devil. With contrasting accounts, Vivien wonders if a vigilante is on the loose—or worse, a serial killer. She’s hell-bent on discovering the truth, but her persistence and stubbornness might bring her closer to death and damnation than she ever imagined.

No one can stop the Angel of God…and they wouldn't want to get in his way.

Crescent City is live on Kindle and it is now live and ready for pre-order.
